Situated on the Deule River, Lille is a gorgeous city in Northern France, near the border with Belgium. It is the fourth largest city in France and the capital of the Hauts-de-France region. Lille is a city where it is easy to get around by different means of public transportation. The metro, trams and bus lines, as part of the Transpole, connect almost all districts and suburbs with the city centre.
The metro network operates with two lines (Line 1 and Line 2), 60 stations and over 140 trains that run every minute, with no more than 8 minutes waiting time. The tramway system connects central Lille to surrounding communities via two tram lines. Over 65 bus routes cover the Lille area and several lines connect the French city with destinations in Belgium. Buses run every 15 minutes from Monday to Saturday, from 5:00 until midnight. Night bus lines also run on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.
Renting a car is another way to explore Lille. It's easy to find a parking space in Lile, as there are a few car parks in the city centre, while street parking is limited. You can book the Lille car rental service online, or you can rent a car at Lille Airport or the train station.

Lille Airport (LIL) is 7 km away from Lile, in the city of Lesquin. The travel time is approximately 20 minutes by car to Lille city centre.
Lille airport shuttles run from Lille Airport to Lille city centre and vice versa, with 20 minutes average trip time. The shuttle bus stop is at entrance door A, near the check-in desks. Although direct train line is not available from Lille Airport to the city centre, you can reach Gare de Lille Europe by shuttle bus or an airport taxi.
Renting a car or a bus is also available at Lille Airport. If you do not prefer public transportation, Lille airport taxi service is available at the taxi stands outside the Departures hall, in front of the Terminal on Level 2.
