Grenoble is a city in southeastern France, at the foot of the French Alps. Grenoble is the capital of the district of Isere and being known by it’s name The Capital of the Alps. The city grew in importance through its industrial development. The population in 2008 census was 156 660. Grenoble is surrounded by mountains and has beautiful scenery too. To the north lies Chartreuse, to the south and west the Vercors, and to the east the Belledonne range.
Within Grenoble, there is a comprehensive bus tram service that operates 26 bus routes and four tram lines and serves much of greater Grenoble. Being essentially flat, Grenoble is a bicycle friendly city.
