Casablanca is a modern port city and Morocco's commercial hub. The city offers a unique mix of Mauresque architecture and French colonial heritage, flavoured with lively nightlife, as well as various holiday attractions.
Most popular locations in Casablanca
The most popular attractions in Casablanca include the famous Hassan II Mosque, the seaside Ain Diab district, the Corniche area with its famous beachfront walkway, Downtown’s Old Medina, the Moroccan Jewish Museum, Rick’s Cafe Casablanca from the movie classic "Casablanca", and many more.
The most popular time for visiting Casablanca is April-August when the weather is drier and mildly warm. August and September are generally busiest months in terms of airline passenger traffic. The famous festivals Boulevard Festival and Jazzablanca are the most popular music events in Casablanca, attracting visitors from all around the world.
Bus, taxi and tram transportation
Casablanca provides different types of public transportation, including bus, train and tram, as well as car rental and local taxi service.
Getting around by bus is one of the cheapest options, although the bus system can be somewhat hard to understand. Intercity buses connect Casablanca to nearby Moroccan cities, as well as, to some European destinations. Buses depart from the central bus station in Rue Léon l’Africain.
Trams provide good connections with the surrounding neighbourhoods, with a frequency of almost every 10 minutes during daytime and early evening.
Car rental is another available transport option for those who choose to drive in Casablanca. However, the traffic is chaotic, and car rental prices are generally high.
The Casablanca taxi service is a shared service, available in two types and colours. You can take a red or a white taxi anywhere in the city, as long as you do not mind sharing the ride and making additional stops.
Public transport from and to Mohammed V International
Mohammed V International Airport (CMN), also known as Casablanca Airport, is the busiest in Morocco. It is located around 30 km from Casablanca city, in Casa-Oasis, Nouasseur area. Transportation from and to Mohammed V International is available by bus, train, car and an airport taxi transfer.
CTM buses operate every hour from the CTM bus terminal to Casablanca International and vice versa, with an average journey time of 45 minutes. The airport bus stop is outside Terminal 1. Air Arabia and Royal Air Maroc provide bus transfers to Rabat and other cities.
Trains operate seven days per week, every hour from 6:00 to 22:00. The connection is available from Casablanca International to Casablanca city centre, as well as, to other Moroccan cities including Tangier and Marrakech. Trains depart from the airport train station at -1 level of Terminal 1, at the arrivals area.
Both terminals have car rental representative office where you can pick up your car. For a direct transfer to your destination, you can take a Casablanca airport taxi at the taxi ranks outside the arrivals hall at the ground level.
