Beja is the city in Beja Municipality in the Alentejo region, Portugal. Total population of inhabitants is around 36 000. There are a couple of historical sites to see in Beja such as Visigothic Museum, The Castle and Museu da Rainha D.Leonor.
The climate in Beja is influenced by the coast. It has cool winters and hot long summers. It doesen’t snow much during winter, but sometimes it can snow once or twice a year.
In 2005 was very dry in Portugal, so the city and the local area suffered from devastating forest fires.

Beja airport is located 9 km north west of Beja, 150 km from Lisbon, 120 km from Faro, and less than 60 km from Spain. In spite of being the only airport in this area, it failed to attract a low cost carriers and has never had scheduled regular flights.
