Aswan is a city in the south of Egypt the capital of Aswan Governorate. The city is a busy market town and tourist center located north of Aswan Dams on the east bank of Nile. Aswan is the hottest and driest inhabited city in the world. The climate ranges from mild in the winter to very hot in the summer with no rain all year. Small enough to walk and graced with the great surroundings by Nile, Aswan ilife is slow and relaxing. In Aswan, Nile is the most beautiful, flowing through amber deserts and granite rocks, round islands covered with palm groves and tropical plants. It has most spectacular sunsets in the world. The place has been favorite winter resort since the nineteenth century and it’s still one of the best places to visit. b
Aswan is very compact and you can do sightseeing by foot, although buses, rental cars, coaches, trains, taxi, boats and ferries are available too. The train station is on the northern end of the city center, so leave plenty of time to buy a ticket, because the service at the counters is slow. Aswan is very compact so you can navigate by foot. A taxi excursion or a horse drawn carriage tour is highly recommended.
Aswan Airport However after the beginning of Arab spring, the airport served 400 000 passengers and during 2008 handeld up to 1.000.000 passengers. Public buses don’t go to the airport, so it’s probably a good idea to book a taxi in advance.
